Shakespeare to Hiphop

RIPR is proud to announce Shakespeare to Hiphop will be bridging the generational gap between classics and pop culture during The Power of Storytelling portion of our 20 Years of Sound + Vision birthday bash on Saturday, May 19 at The WaterFire Arts Center.

Shakespeare to Hiphop is the combined talents of Regie Gibson and Marlon Carey, a pair of extraordinary literary performance artists who transport you to 16th century London in a modern “beat poet” style.

Imagine an Elizabethan sonnet liberated from the cage of its page and soulfully sang. Picture a verbal smack-down between characters from Shakespeare’s plays that engages you as an audience member! Hear Shakespeare interpreted in a way that you’ve never experienced before and do it as part of a night that celebrates community, history, and civic engagement.

Get your 20 Years of Sound + Vision tickets today and witness the Shakespeare Time-Traveling Speakeasy that will engage you and give you a new appreciation for “The Bard.”

Be part of the vision and see them make the written word come to life!
